Peter Senge
Peter Senge is a senior lecturer at the Massachusetts institute of Technology and the founding chair of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL), a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering, integrating and implementing theories and practices for the interdependent development of people and their institutions.
Currently, Peter Senge focuses on decentralizing the role of leadership in organizations as the means to enhance the capacity of all people to work productively toward common goals. Peter Senge advocates some quite idealistic ideas, among them the necessity to bring human values into the corporate environment. Senge has lectured extensively throughout the world. He translates abstract ideas of systems theory into implements for economic and organizational change. He has worked with leaders in government, business, education and health care.
Peter Senge was named "Strategist of the Century" by the Journal of Business Strategy. He was listed as one of twenty-four men and women who are said to have "had the greatest impact on the way we conduct business today" (September / October 1999). Senge is also the author of several books, including the widely acclaimed, The Fifth Discipline: The Art and Practice of the Learning Organization (1990).
Peter Senge received a B.S. in engineering from Stanford University, an M.S. in social systems modeling and Ph.D. in management from MIT. He lives with his wife and their two children in central Massachusetts. |
