In Our Spring Issue 2017:

 Heart-Mind Workshops

With Spring fast approaching we are delighted to announce we will be hosting Heart-Mind Well-Being Workshops over the next few months at the Dalai Lama Center in downtown Vancouver.

In our Heart-Mind Workshops we share current research, scientific knowledge, best practices and practical strategies related to the promotion of social and emotional development in children. The workshop helps adults explore ways to help children feel secure and calm in their lives, approach situations with curiosity and confidence, solve problems peacefully, and get along with others.

Heart-Mind 2016 Conference at a Glance

Our 4th annual Heart-Mind conference featured some of the leading minds in child development, education and mental health addressing the Dalai Lama's question, "How can we educate the hearts of children?

This conference focused on Resilience and we had two wonderful days of thought-provoking presentations and conversations. We have just added videos of the speaker’s presentations to the DLC website and if you were unable to attend the conference this is a perfect opportunity to experience some of the inspiring content. Here you’ll find Dr Michael Ungar, one of the world’s leading researchers on the topic of resilience , providing a very engaging keynote presentations titled Nurturing Resilience: Nine Things Children Need from their Parents, Schools and Communities. He provides practical strategies for parents and educators to help young people thrive in the face of adversity  We hope you will explore our website, enjoy the videos and spread the word!

New educational resources have just been added to our online learning resource heartmindonline.org!

Did you know reading books with children, while simple and practical, is a powerful and fun tool that can be easily used at home or in a child care setting to help children feel secure and calm, build secure attachments with adults, and become more emotionally literate.
