NEW ON HEART-MIND ONLINE: HOW IS MY BODY FEELING?

Emotional development starts in infancy when babies feel and react to feelings of joy, fear, anger, sadness, surprise and disgust. These feelings are purely physical and serve to keep the baby safe. As children grow, they are exposed to new situations. Their range of feelings, thoughts and actions expand and their emotional lives become more complex.

How children respond to different feelings affects their daily choices, behaviour and well-being.

Developing emotional understanding and management is very important in the early years.

Check out our new Feelings Gauge resource now available on our Heart-Mind Online website. This tool helps build children's emotional awareness and sets a foundation for the development of self-regulation. Children can check in with their feelings and energy levels on the gauge.
